Monroe Building Receives 2013 Merit Award
The Monroe Building was recently awarded a 2013 Merit Award in the category of Renovation by the Association of Licensed Architects (ALA).
Holabird & Root was presented with the award at the ALA’s 2013 Design Awards Banquet held on Friday, November 8, 2013. A total of 41 winners were presented awards in eight different categories.
Originally designed by Holabird & Roche in 1812, the Monroe Building had aged and faced being converted into a condominium and parking facility prior to restoration. The renovation of various elements of the Romanesque building resulted in a project that combined the best elements of meticulous restoration with modernization to meet the demands of future tenants.
