The Fitness Center at Concordia University Chicago focuses on three components: Wellness, Academics, and Athletics. This unique project, which was built over an existing, outdated pool and bleachers, includes spaces for cardiovascular fitness, resistance training, and athletics conditioning.
The new facility serves the academic programs of the Departments of Human Performance and Athletics, the Concordia University Cougars Athletics Department, and supports the wellness of students and community members.
Holabird & Root worked with members of the CUC Athletics Department to specifically tailor the space for its off-season strength and fitness training programs. The project also includes an indoor turf track, which can be used for sprint training and football sled pulling, providing improved training opportunities for the institution’s Athletics Department.
