In need of modern classrooms, lecture halls, student gathering spaces, offices, and laboratories to support its programs, Harper College recently completed significant renovations to three prominent campus buildings.
Existing structures were renovated and additions provide for additional program areas and mechanical spaces. The buildings house the institution’s public safety, HVAC, welding/fabrication, and interior design/fashion design departments.
A central clerestory roof addition opens to the interior corridors and brings natural light to the new two-story connecting volume. A new pedestrian bridge links the adjacent G and H buildings and a new parking garage. Building D houses administrative spaces, the mathematics department, and the computer science department. The project includes a regional chiller plant providing chilled water to the entire campus quadrant.
