The theme of this master plan can best be described as a “pedestrian city,” with an emphasis on close proximity to dense residential districts and an abundance of transit opportunities. Activities that are typically performed at certain times of day are mixed together, to generate “24-hour areas.” That means office and civic space are adjacent to shopping, entertainment, and recreation. Adding residential components allows for areas that are occupied by different groups of people for different reasons at all times of day. Providing multiple means of transit with a spatial emphasis on walkability allows for maximum synergy among activities. With the mix of high-density housing provided by several mid-rise buildings and the low density housing of the integrated bungalows and town homes, every effort is made in this design to introduce green space into public corridors. Taking into account the location and climate, canals are incorporated as buffers for the annual monsoon season.
