PAWS Chicago (Pets Are Worth Saving) is a not-for-profit organization that is focused on the humane care of animals. Holabird & Root designed a new adoption, education, and medical treatment center for PAWS in the heart of one of Chicago’s most adoption-oriented neighborhoods, Lincoln Park.

The facility houses both dogs and cats in spaces that are designed for animal well-being and cleanliness with fresh air, durable materials, and sound attenuation. An overall atmosphere of warmth contributes to both animals’ and patrons’ enjoyment of the 11,000-square-foot facility.

As part of the Lincoln Park Adoption Center project, the Holabird & Root team provided strategic planning + programming, architectural design, MEP/FP engineering, structural engineering, and interior design.

To ensure the project remained within budget, cost estimates were provided at the major phases of the project. Transparency, collaboration, and strong communication was maintained between the design team and PAWS Chicago throughout to arrive at a project completed on time and on schedule.
